“The foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” — 1 Corinthians 1:25

Church >in< Community

1 Corinthians
Sept 1, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“The foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” – 1 Corinthians 1:25
“You are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Therefore as it is written, ‘Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.’” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

Today, learn with us – God does not do things the way we expect in building community. Today, we start a new sermon series with Pastor Jonathan called “Church in Community” from the book of 1 Corinthians. That’s also the title of our first message and it comes from the the first chapter, 1 Corinthians 1.

The Community of Power

1 Corinthians 2:1-16
Sept 8, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4

In case you haven’t noticed, God does not think the way we think. God does not work the way we do. God chooses differently than we would. Today, we look at God’s Community and how the Holy Spirit chooses to work to show His power.

Working Together

1 Corinthians 3
Sept 15, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“We are God’s fellow workers.” – 1 Corinthians 3:9

Like finding a truck stuck in a ditch, the apostle Paul jumps into the mud of community relationships to get us unstuck and back to work. Are you stuck and can’t seem to move forward? Do you have issues that keep you from serving the Lord? God speaks to our childish behavior and puts us on track for fulfilling work with the Lord and each other.

Happy 111th Birthday KUC!

1 Corinthians 11:1
Sept 22, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“Imitate me as I am of Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 11:1

How do we become like Jesus? Simply—we follow someone who is following Jesus. The bible calls this discipleship. It is our one purpose at KUC. To lead people in following Christ. After 111 years, there is still nothing more important, nothing more rewarding. All Glory to God!

Covenant Sunday

1 Corinthians 4: 1-18
Sept 29, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” — 1 Corinthians 4:20

Christ calls us to join in a new covenant in His blood. It is a living relationship of receiving His grace and serving Him as LORD. This covenant also binds His body together in community. KUC members express this commitment in our covenant. It is a statement of purpose, of mission and action as we serve Christ Jesus. together.

Communion Sunday

1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Oct 06, 2024 | Pastor Jonathan Steeper

“Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?” —1 Corinthians 5:6

Christ calls us as His church to walk in His holiness. What do we do when the sins of the world enter the community of God’s people? Today we ask the LORD to help us look at a very touchy subject. We learn from His word how the Holy Spirit does healing surgery on His bride.
