At Kalihi Union Church, prayer is most important. Prayer is a time when we not only talk to God but also listen to Him. We have several opportunities for you to be involved in a prayer ministry. Please come and seek the Lord’s face in prayer with us. If you have any prayer requests, please contact us or stop by the office!
Use the S.O.A.P. method to journal your prayers based on scriptures from the weekly Sunday sermons!
S cripture: Write out a passage or verse that spoke to your heart.
O bservation: What was God saying? Who was He talking to?
A pplication: How can you apply this passage or verse to your life?
P rayer: Pray the passage or scripture. Ask God to give you the wisdom to apply it.

Our Sweet Ada Lum
Our dear sweet Ada Lum is now absent from her body and present with her Lord. On May 15, she peacefully slipped into her Beloved’s presence.
At 14, she took on teaching a 3rd grade Sunday School class. This began her decades long work as a missionary. In her mid-80s, Ada began teaching about Heaven. She was fascinated and fixated. It was, of course, a fantastic Bible class. For years, she would ask, “What’s the first thing you think you’ll do when you see Jesus?” She could not fathom what her own response might be – fall down in worship, grip him in a long hug, laugh or cry, but it was definitely on her mind.
So, was her intent to finish well. Ada’s greatest joy was loving Jesus with all her heart, soul, strength and mind. And her second favorite thing was bringing any and everyone else into that love relationship with Him. And, she was good to the last drop!
This is the testimony of what Ada did for me. From the time we first met when I was a student at the University of Hawaii until our visit the day before she passed away, Ada taught me how to know and love Jesus and His Word.
Her final words to me? Loud and clear, she expressed her love for me. And then, with great joy and surprising strength, she declared her love for Jesus. The sweetness of that farewell has strangely warmed my heart.
No one could ever convince me that Ada was a single, barren woman! She reveled in a sacred romance with Jesus for more than nine decades. And, that relationship was extremely fruitful. I’m one of her kids, and likely, so are you! I imagine that her impact on generations around the world can only be counted by the One who knows the number of hairs on our heads and listed only by He who calls each star by name.
Thanks be to God for Ada Lum.
