Starting in the Word

Jan 8, 2023 | 2 Timothy 3:10-17 | Pastor Jonathan

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Apostle Paul wrote two letters to his protege Timothy that have been passed down to us as Scripture. In his second letter, Paul leaves a heartfelt plea to his spiritual son to stand firm in the midst of great tribulation in the church. It is in the midst of this that he charges Timothy in a verse perhaps familiar to many of us.

Staying in Shape

Jan 15, 2023 | 2 Timothy 2:1-13  | Pastor Jonathan

“My son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” – 2 Timothy 2:1

We all have different testimonies of hardship and ways of handling them. When we look at the life of Paul, we see a man given one of the hardest assignments God ever laid on one of His servants. Yet, we also see how uniquely Paul was used in those hardships. As his protege and side-by-side worker, Timothy would want to know what gave his mentor strength to endure. Paul shares the secret perspective that helped him to keep going in the midst of great troubles.

Focus on Things Above

Jan 22, 2023 | Colossians 3:1-17 | Pastor Marv

“Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – Colossians 3:1-2

In Christ, we become changed through and through. But what do these changes mean? When Paul says we are “raised with Christ” how do we experience this even while our physical life on earth feels largely the same?

Special guest Pastor Marv Norlien, who served as Interim Pastor,  returns to the KUC pulpit  in celebration of Pastor Kendal’s ordination service yesterday.

Stir the Gift of God In You!

Jan 29, 2023 | 2 Timothy 1:1-12 | Pastor Jonathan

“Fan into flame the gift of God which is in you.” – 2 Timothy 1:6

In learning of Timothy’s predicament, Paul exhorts him to remember who he is “in Christ” and the gifts and calling that was bestowed upon him. Though we are weak, the Holy Spirit gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

In His Kingdom

Feb 12, 2023 | Colossians 1:1-14 | Pastor Jonathan

“To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ.” – Colossians 1:2

Paul writes to the believers in Colossae to buttress their faith through prayer, teaching, and encouragement. We continue in our “In Christ” series as we turn to Paul’s letter to the Colossians.
