School Year Starts with a Splash

Our new school year is in full swing! We welcomed 55 students in August and launched our new school’s name, “Kalihi Christian School.” We made many new friends, and the students were getting into the groove of things and learning their class rules and routines!

In preschool, we began our school year by learning our colors through various activities. We use the Abeka curriculum to learn our colors, along with using different tangible items. We used Legos to build while practicing our colors.

In elementary school, we started reviewing our letters and sounds, as well as learning to read and write 2 sight words per week. For Math, we learned to decompose the number 5 by using counters.

In August, the students learned all about the days of Creation. We had chapel with Pastor Jonathan, his love for the outdoors & movement was perfect under the new Pergola! The children couldn’t control the need to roll down the new Astroturf! We kicked off with Manna Ministry, and our one & only song they learned was “My God Is So Great!”

We had our first water play day, where the students got to play in the splash pad and have a picnic lunch afterwards.

What a great way to start the year!
