Dig Into the Word

At Kalihi Union Church we value the truth of the Bible. We have classes where people can learn about different topics from a biblical perspective. This is not only a time for learning, but also for building relationships with the people in the class. They will learn together and pray for each other. Don’t worry if you’re a parent with a baby, we also have a nursery open during this time.

David — A Man After God’s Own Heart

Being a man after God’s own heart, David longed to serve Him well, whether as an obscure shepherd boy along the Judean hillsides or as the highest reigning monarch of authority. But woven through his enviable life were tough threads of humanity, which keep us from worshiping the man today. Great and gallant, David was nevertheless merely a man, plagued by flaws in his character during his reign. May our studies over the next three months help us realize that devotion—not perfection—is the secret to living a life that pleases God. We need that reminder every day of our lives.

In this class, the Bible will be our main textbook, supplemented by Chuck Swindoll’s book, “David: A Man of Passion and Destiny,” and supported by a helpful, concise outline by John Butler. Upon your request a detailed outline on David’s life by John Butler will be available. For each week from the assigned reading, please create a personal one-liner or phrase that causes transformation in your life and would be a blessing to others. You will not be required to share this every week but encouraged to do so from time to time throughout our sessions.

Please make it a point not to miss more than 2 sessions. OK?

Jesus is the Messiah

We affirm that Jesus is the Messiah. But what does the term Messiah mean, and why is it so important? Join us as we study the Matthew’s Gospel and follow his argument that God’s covenants and prophecy as revealed in the Old Testament show that Jesus is The Christ, and that as The Messiah, He is most worthy of our worship.

Women of the Bible (Senior Women)

We will study 52 Women of the Bible and discover how their stories don’t stand on their own but connect to the larger biblical narrative. Included in our study will be familiar women like Eve, Sarah, Deborah, and Ruth. And also less familiar women like the mothers of Moses, the woman of Endor, the wise woman of Abel, and Huldah. We will discover how these women are linked to each other and to the whole story of the Bible.
