Thank You from Randy Hongo
Dear Pastor Steeper and KUC Ohana,
Aloha from Modesto, California. We are here on the mainland doing concerts at churches that support our ministry, Christian Vision. Last weekend we were in the cities of Monterey and San Leandro. This week we are visiting friends in sunny and warm Modesto. We go to San Jose this weekend for concerts in that city and a visit with former KUC Pastor Stan Johnson who is celebrating his 88th birthday. We will extend warm congratulatory wishes from the KUC Ohana to Pastor Johnson. We fly home next Tuesday.
We wanted to write and thank you, our KUC family, for all of your help, participation in and prayers for our musical drama “Glory In His Soul.” We were so blessed to have our church family support us in this endeavor for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and as a gift and witness to the people of our community.
Each one of you played a very important part. To those of you who had acting roles in the play to the many who worked behind the scenes on technical aspects of the production, you all did an excellent job. We heard many comments from people who called your work “thoroughly professional…moving…uplifting.” And to all of you who prayed for us and to those who were able to come and see the inspiring story of our brother in Christ, Henry Opukaha’ia, Hawaii’s first Christian, we cannot begin to thank you enough for all your support and kokua. Mahalo nui loa.
This production was a benefit fundraiser for our music school, the Hongo Music Education Center. Thank you for helping us to generate offerings for our school that, in the Lord’s time, will be built on KUC grounds and will help to train and educate musicians and creative artists for service to God’s kingdom.
Pastor Jon has been teaching us about the body of Christ and the importance of each member in our church working together for the glory of the Lord. We truly saw that in action as each of you had a relevant part in “Glory In His Soul.” Truly we are one ohana in Jesus, and we believe our church family has become stronger in the Lord and in our relationships with each other as we worked together for God’s glory.
May the Lord bless all of you as you continue to grow in His grace and knowledge here at Kalihi Union Church.
Much aloha in Jesus our Lord,
Uncle Randy and Aunty Gay Hongo
