plus Great Bible Apps & Websites…bible reading

We hope you’ll take this opportunity to jump into reading the Bible daily.  You don’t have to wait for the beginning of the new year to start!  Let God’s Word speak into your life and strengthen you.  Make a fresh start by reading the Bible daily.

Tips on Reading the Bible, from Pastor Jonathan Steeper:

When you are reading a Bible Passage, Ask and Answer Three Questions:

1   What does it say about God? (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) Where is He in the passage?

– God’s Character
– God’s Action

2   What does it say about me? Are there people I identify with (try identifying with the sinner)?

– What do I learn about my sin nature?
– What do I learn about living in Christ?

3   So What?

– Is there Sin to be repented?
– Is there a Command to be obeyed?
– Is there a Promise to claim?

Why read the Bible?

Hebrews 4:12  “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17  “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

1 Timothy 4:13  “…devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.”
